The refrigerator uses thermoelectric exchange technology instead of compressor cooling. 1950's style fridge freezer is quieter, and only emits a slight hum.
The refrigerator has a total capacity of 295 litres, with the fridge compartment containing 209 litres, and the bottom-mounted freezer supplying 89 litres of storage space. The refrigerator is not frost free and will require manual defrosting on occasion to maintain its peak performance. The drawer that can be used to store chilled beverages is a nice addition and the crisper drawer is spacious enough to store fresh fruit and vegetables.
We tested the fridge's energy efficiency, and it earned an A+ rating. This is the lowest energy efficiency that we've assessed, and is a good result for an appliance at this price. The 42dB noise rating was a good score. This is still a little more raucous than the cheaper models, but it's much quieter than the older fridges we have tested that tended to make lots of noise when running.
Swan has kept the design simple which is an advantage in terms of ease of use. The fridge features an LED light bulb as well as an adjustable temperature control. The temperature was stable. The middle and top shelves only differed by one or two degrees to each side of the mean, whereas the salad drawer remained at 2oC. However we did notice it was quite warm at the back which could be a problem in hotter rooms.

Temperature stability was also good for a refrigerator like this. The top shelf, middle and bottom all offered an average temperature that was within just a couple of degrees of the maximum temperature. The temperature in the salad drawer fluctuated between 5oC and just below freezing.
As with the SR11010, the fridge will require an occasional manual defrost, but is rated A+ for energy efficiency. This makes it one of the most efficient refrigerator freezers in our Best Buy chart, keeping your electric bills to a minimum.
This is an excellent illustration of how Swan can provide attractive retro designs at affordable prices. The SR11010 looks fantastic and is available in a wide spectrum of colors, ranging from the subtle pastel blue we tested to more striking red, pink and orange. It's frost-free and it is also very quiet. It's a solid all-rounder but you need to compare it with other fridge freezers in our Best Buy table to make sure you get the right appliance for your home.
